Last month, a customer from Mexico City purchased 2 of my Etsy items. One was the above custom beaded Great Dane pendant. I purchased a USPS Priority Mail International Flat Rate shipping label. I requested tracking updates on the USPS website and received email notifications the entire way. A delivery attempt was made on the morning of the Sept. 19, 2017, but my customer was not home to receive it.
Just hours later, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Greater Mexico City area.
I was very worried, and and didn’t hear from my customer for nearly two days..(Thankfully she is okay!) I also didn’t receive any tracking updates for an entire week. I sent a tweet to the Mexican postal service with my tracking# and they responded telling me that their offices were closed so they could inspect their buildings. They also reassured me that the package would be delivered but they weren’t sure when… So, I relayed that info to my customer, and the very next day she was able to go to her local Post office to pick up her package! I also received another tweet from the postal service telling me that the package had been picked up..
Now, that customer is a repeat customer! She placed another order for 3 more custom beaded Great Dane pendants, and I have just shipped them the other day.
So, to those who haven’t shipped to Mexico yet, I say, why not give it a try? My only hope is that Etsy will make some modifications to their shipping settings. I would like to see the option to select only ONE shipping preference for certain countries. For example, I prefer NOT to offer shipping to Mexico via regular First Class International, because I have no idea how long it will take to arrive, or if it will arrive at all. Priority seems like the best way to go. If you have had trouble shipping to certain countries, please mention your experience in the comments below.

Dear friends, lately I have been obsessed with the Borzoi aka. Russian Wolfhound, so I decided to make a framed portrait of one..
I started by cutting out several layers of felt and stitched them together. Then, I chose my seed beads – 15/o matte brown seed beads and tiny 13/o gold charlottes and started beading!
After I finished beading the entire piece of felt, I layered even more seed beads and beaded fringe to create the dogs flowing hair. And lastly, I stitched the beadwork to a dark blue piece of Ultrasuede.
How does this dog breed look in a shadowbox frame?
This piece is currently available and ready to ship! Please click the pics to view more photos on Etsy. Also, for a limited time only, enter coupon code SAVE2016 to save 10% on any order now through October 31, 2016. Thanks for looking! 🙂
Dear friends, happy summer! I hope you are surviving the heat. I am keeping busy beading in the A/C and thought I would show you my latest work. Recently a customer sent me a photo of her Borzoi named Zhivoy and she asked me to create a custom beaded brooch for her.
Here is the finished piece. This is the same design as the first Borzoi brooch I made. Do you like it? 🙂
This design is now available as made-to-order on Etsy and Amazon. A mini-pet portrait can also be mounted in a shadowbox frame upon request. Please send me a photo of your dog if you are interested in a custom piece. Also, check my Facebook page and/or Instagram feed for all the latest updates. Thank you for your interest in my beadwork! 🙂
Dear friends, I would like to show you my latest design – beaded Afghan Hound sterling silver drop earrings! These match the beaded Afghan Hound pin pendant which is listed in my Etsy and Amazon Handmade shops.. This pair sold almost immediately, so they are now listed as made-to-order with several different color options. Do you like them? 🙂
Also, I am thrilled to announce that I have finally reached 700 sales in my Etsy shop! (This may have something to do with the fact that my shop has been mentioned on French website madmoiZelle.com.) I plan to celebrate all next week by going on vacation. Both of my shops will remain open for business, but please keep in mind that beadwork orders will not be filled until the week of February 15, 2016. If you have any questions or custom order inquiries, please use the Contact form anytime, and I will get back to you as soon as possible:)
Please visit my Instagram and/or Facebook pages for international beady posts while I’m away. Also, mark you calendar for my upcoming show in Harvard Square. More details on that when I return. Thank you for your interest in my bead embroidery! 🙂
Dear friends, a new beaded Basset Hound pin pendant is now available for sale in my Amazon Handmade store. This pin was created by stitching tiny glass seed beads to felt 2-3 at a time. The dog’s floppy ears were beaded in a peyote stitch to add movement and realism. Ears measure approx. 2cm long – they actually move when you touch them! Seed beads were also layered over the dog’s body to accentuate his wrinkles:) A 1″ pin is sewn to the back, as well as a custom made bail. Pins are backed with Ultrasuede & signed by The Lone Beader. This item is ready-to-ship.
And, for a limited time, I am offering FREE SHIPPING within the USA on the purchase of any beaded dog pin, pendant, or jewelry item on both Amazon and Etsy. If you are interested in a custom beaded dog pin or portrait, please use the Contact form above. Thank you for your interest in my beadwork! 🙂
