>Mounting Beadwork to Canvas

This weekend, I’ll be stitching my beaded White House & trees to its painted 36″ wide oval stretched canvas.

I have already begun this stage of the piece, and it’s not exactly easy mostly because of the size of the canvas. I work with the painting half on and half off of my kitchen worktable. I have already stitched the White House to the canvas, and one of my needles broke off inside the center section of the beadwork. I am trying not to break a second needle. I am also trying not to catch any thread on the beads, so I am working slowly stitching one tree leaf at a time.

You can see some of the stitches on the back of my canvas here:

I have already completed quite a bit, but I still have another tree and my little beaded dog to stitch into place!😮 What will you be working on this weekend?

  1. >Let's see, I started the Taj Mahal bead embroidered piece. And I got a manicure and pedicure. Made a sample for the store – the "Poor Woman's Tennis Bracelet"

  2. >Your art is amazing! This weekend, after mowing some grass, plan to finish framing some new artwork. jodi..I have that tomato blight too! It's awful.

  3. >I'm doing laundry, ironing, studying, and maybe even transplant an orchid or two! No beading today! Church tonight and tomorrow morning and selling cookbooks that seem to go like hot cakes. I think I'd rather be beading.

  4. >This is really a work of art. What a beautiful piece this is.Curious, how much does it weigh? It must be quite heavy. What "thread" are you using to hold the White House and trees on the canvas? You continue to amaze me🙂

  5. >And I thought the beading was labor intensive. It is really exciting see this project come all together. You must be thrilled.I am working on some beaded cuffs to post to my etsy shop. (www.jodihorgan.etsy.com). I also will be tending to my garden. I just spent the morning pull out half of our tomato crop because of the wide spreading tomato fungus. Not too happy about this.
