Quick Beading Project

I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend! I didn’t have as much time to do beadwork like I had wanted to do, but I did have a couple of hours, so I decided to work on something small. Check it out:

I had this 1/2″ covered button on my worktable for months. I remember that I covered it with a tiny piece of felt, and a scrap of corduroy fabric. The felt adds extra space for your needle if you plan to do bead embroidery.

Then, I worked my way toward the center. A little while later, I had completely covered the button with seed beads! Now, it’s a lucky ladybug!😀

It does look almost finished, but I want to stitch through the beads a bit more to make sure they are secure. I am also considering adding some size 15 seed beads, as well as a pair of antennas! I hope to have this button listed in my Etsy shop later this week. This little project was fun to make, and a good way to make use of a small amount of time. Are there any special projects you like to work on when you only have an hour or two?

  1. >Love the lady bug button! And, it’s exactly what I need…some small projects between the bigger ones. It feels nice bead something small, like a brooch, and see it complete in short period of time! And, I can’t just sit around doing nothing with my hands either…never have been able to…except to read!Have a good weekend! Hope the sun is shining on you…~Lisa

  2. >Cute ladybug! An hour or two can be *a lot* of time for me to work, but I usually won’t tackle dyeing or large-scale fabric painting in that amount of time. If I’m out and about and know that I’m going to be waiting around, I’ll crochet or make yo-yos or embroider. I wish beadwork were a little more portable, but I just can’t see well enough in coffee-shop lighting.😉
