Work in progress.

Last night, I did a little painting on my final Back to the Future canvas. Then, I noticed I had kept an old Boston Metro from last week, and I suddenly had an idea of making a newspaper collage version of Twin Pines Mall. Inspired by Eduardo Paolozzi‘s collages I saw at the National Portrait Gallery in London, I flipped through the paper, and started cutting out some articles. Of course, most of the articles are about Obama’s future administration and the current state of the economy – what better way to depict a shopping mall from past? There is also an article which reflects the current state of the U.S. auto industry. I think that should accompany my 3rd beaded DeLorean time machine quite well!😀

Although it is not finished yet, how do you think this collage might be interpreted in the future?

  1. >I have no idea how big the greater subject is, but, the Back to the Future work you’ve done so well may be compromised if you attach too much peripheral around it.(just a painter’s point of view)

  2. >Thanks, Phoenix! I have always loved words in art. I love how their meaning can be interpreted in different ways. I think this will be my 4th piece that has words- beaded, handwritten, or printed!😀

  3. >Very interesting collage but I don’t have a clue what others, now, or in the future might think about it. I’m not good at that sort of thing but I do try to exercise my mind to think about it. Something new for me.

  4. >I have no prediction for how the future would interrupt anything. Honest. I just don’t. But I like the idea of the newsprint collage.
