Yesterday, LJ from Wild Wicked Beads tagged me! If you don’t know LJ, do stop by her blog and say hello! 😀

7 Facts About Me:

1. I cannot stop listening to Joy Division. When I was in London in May, I went to see the documentary film about the band, which was brilliant. Then, I had to bring a few of their discs home, and now I think I need to get the DVD! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the band, check out the original Shadowplay – not that rubbish the Killers recorded.. :/

2. I’m not really a movie person, but I do watch them on occasion. The last one I watched was Basquiat, a biographical film about painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. I enjoyed the film very much because I learned a little more about Andy Warhol. Andy & Jean-Michel collaborated on quite a few works of art, and in some of them, you can’t tell who painted which parts. Here are a few of my favourites:

3. I’m currently reading a book called City of Falling Angels by John Berendt. It’s a true story about the people of the city of Venice, Italy in the months just after the historic Fenice Theatre burned down in 1996. I figured I should read that if I’m planning to go there next year… 😀

4. I am patiently awaiting the arrival Steven Wilson‘s solo album, Insurgentes. For those of you who don’t know, Steven is the lead singer of my absolute favourite band, Porcupine Tree. I preordered the disc on his website, and had to pay quite a lot for it, but I know it will be worth it – Steven is a musical genius! 😀

5. I have a small collection of interesting American coins, including a couple of Mercury Head dimes, steel pennies, and Buffalo nickels. I can’t remember how I acquired most of them, but I did get one of the nickels when I recycled a plastic bottle in the machine at the supermarket! 🙂

6. I am addicted to this Indiana Movie Theatre Popcorn. I’m at the point where I buy two bags of it at a time, and I’m always munching on it while I’m beading! 😮

7. I just learned that an article about my beadwork has been printed in a Russian craft magazine! More details on that when my copy arrives! *blush*

Enjoy your day! 🙂

  1. >Yea, Jay, that popcorn is the BEST! If you can’t find it in the snack aisle, look in the health/natural food section of your supermarket. Two out of 3 of our stores hide it there… although the Movie Theatre kind is probably not healthy if you eat the whole bag like I do! LOL

  2. >I love popcorn so I’m going to have to go and try to find that brand. And I’m going to look up Joy Division on YouTube right now!

  3. >Hi Sascha, I have not seen Control. Will have to check that out for sure!Mary, I don’t think I could ever give up popcorn! And, Mo, cool that you like Basquiat! I had just recently discovered his work (thanks to a friend who lent me the DVD). Very interesting story, as well! And, thanks to the power of the internet, I now have a very important contact in Moscow! 🙂 I am very excited to see the publication, myself! *blush* 😀

  4. >So there is one other out there besides me who love basquiat! Can’t wait to see the Russian article. How’d you get there?

  5. >I seldom watch movies either. I like to do physical stuff for entertainment, like excersing or such or listen to mellow music. I had to give up popcorn. It ruins my gums. Everynow and then I snitch a piece though and pay for it.

  6. >I’ve been a huge Joy Division fan for years. The movie Control was excellent, but I haven’t seen the doc yet. Thanks for reminding me about it!
