Bead International Lone Beader 2008 Dairy Barn Arts Center Athens OH beadwork beading seed beadsI’m always sad when the weekend comes to an end – especially this one! I spent some quality time with family and friends, and I had a great time attending the Bead International 2008 opening night. The event took place at the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, OH. This was my first time visiting the Dairy Barn, and I must say that I am very impressed! Here are a few pics from the show so you can see. 😀

This exhibit contains extraordinary examples of both traditional and contemporary beadwork. There were a few beaded handbags, a gourd, a couple of dolls, some wearable art, a large number of bead-paintings, some jewelry, a few indescribable pieces, and way too many quilts. Here are a few of my favourites:

Also, here’s a peek in the gallery shop. There, you can buy original beadwork by the artists in the exhibit. You will also find a full colour book documenting the complete Bead International 2008 and Beyond Basketry 2008 collections. And, if you can’t make it to Ohio this summer, the book is available for sale HERE. Also, don’t forget to check My Flickr for more photos. That’s all for today. I hope you’ve enjoyed the show!!😀

  1. >The “Beast” has a dog’s true soulful expression. Thanks for sharing his picture. Love his colors too. That artist did a great job.

  2. >Thanks, Nina!! *blush*You know, I really like the evil moon on that bag… The sun (which I did not photograph) represents life, and the moon represents death.😮

  3. >The beadwork is amazing. I have seen the “Day & Evening Bag” already in Beadwork magazine. However, what I don’t like about the bag is that the moon/night is so evil. :DBesides, my favourite pic is the one with you. Your dress has caught my eye immediately! That’s a great dress. I want it!🙂 At secondon glance I also noticed your new haircut. Beautiful!!! :)))

  4. >Awwww…. *blush* Thanks for the sweet comments! I would LOVE to go to the B&B show, but I think I already spent too much money on beads in the Czech Republic last month. LOL.

  5. >wow you cut your hair!! looks great! So does Engine Co. 6 and its frame. glad you had fun. So now you just gotta come to the B+B show next week!

  6. >That is just some incredible stuff there. I bet it was a blas .. Hey! Not only do you have mad talent your smokin’ hot too!😉

  7. >Well, LB, now that I’ve seen work by other beaders, I can see how excellent your beading is. You use tiny beads which makes your designs very intricate. That old engine is something else…Looks like you had a lot of fun and that’s always good, isn’t it?🙂
