Gilligan’s Island was another favourite television of mine. I remember watching this after school when I was 7 or 8 yrs. old. This sitcom ran for only 3 seasons – from 1964-1967. There were a total of 98 episodes, which became even more popular when the show ran in syndication. I can’t remember which episode is my favourite, but I do remember my favourite character, The Professor. I loved the Professor because he was very smart, and he knew how to build all sorts of things. (He was also easy on the eyes:) But, despite his education, he could never really figure out a way to get off the island…

And, speaking of that, I did a little research and discovered that the real Gilligan’s Island is actually an island in the Bahamas called Sandy Cay. This 3-acre island is only 3 miles from Nassau, and it is currently for sale for only $2,675,000. Not bad… however, this price would sound a little more reasonable to me if the island actually included a Professor;)
Until then, I’ll keep saving my pennies…

  1. >Well, I can comment on Gilligan’s Island. I think my favorite character was Mary Ann. And I also like Mrs. Howell very well, because she was only as smart as she had to be and then she was very shred! Gotta love that in a woman, even if I wouldn’t want to be her! My children watched the reruns it seemed like forever. They were still on when the were teenagers and they’d mock it by then, but they still watched it.

  2. >I’m so loving this project and the nostalgic memories it’s inspired so far, LB! I started singing the theme song in my head as soon as the page loaded up! Thanks for the memories!🙂

  3. >We went on a Disney Cruise about 15 years ago and spent part of a day on that very island. It’s very beautiful, as I recall the water was to rough to swim in except for the lagoon.
