Dear friends, I have made some progress on my latest commission – a beaded house portrait.
First, I stitched in some beaded greenery around the yard light. Then, I began to bead the tree..
In real life, this tree is very large, but my portrait is sort of limited by the size of the canvas, so this only represents a portion of the tree. Using size 15 seed beads in at least 6 shades of green, I stitched very small loops for leaves. There are many leaves, so this took quite a while to do!
Next, I stitched the house to the larger 5″x 7″ piece of stiff stuff that is shown behind it.. (Yes, the house was a separate piece of beadwork, as is the tree!) Then, I continued stitching the grass to the edge of the stiff stuff.
I also stitched size 11 black, gray, and brown seed beads for the street, and tiny size 15 Delica beads for the driveway. I thought I might run out of the color I was using, but turns out I had just enough! :)
Next, I will stitch in a bit more grass.. Please check my Facebook and/or Instagram pages for more updates. Thank you for your interest in my beadwork! :)

Last night, I went to the Cambridge Art Association’s 14th National Prize Show reception. Works in all mediums were selected by Caitlin Doherty, Curator & Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, Michigan State University.
Only 79 pieces out of 1200 entries were selected for this show. I am absolutely thrilled that my beaded painting, Radio City, is one of them! This piece consists of bead embroidery on canvas. You can view Radio City May 15- June 25, 2015 at University Place Gallery in Harvard Square.
University Place Gallery:
124 Mt. Auburn St. Cambridge MA, 02138 Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm • Saturday 9:00am to 1:00pm.
The other half of the exhibition is installed at the Kathryn Schultz Gallery located at 25 Lowell St., Cambridge, MA. There you can also check out the Small Wall Project.
Every 4-6 weeks, original small works will be shown here. Of course, these pieces are available for sale. Many artists will donate 50% of the sale to the Cambridge Art Association so they can continue to expand their gallery space.
My beaded Afghan Hound portrait will be shown here for the next few weeks. Go check it out if you happen to be in the area! If you are interested in a custom beaded dog portrait of a different breed, please visit my Etsy shop or contact me through Facebook. Thank you for your interest in my beadwork! :)

Dear friends, it has been awhile since I posted any progress on my Russian bead painting.. I guess I have been busy working on Etsy orders! :) Here are a handful of photos which I have previously posted on my Facebook page:
I am stitching tiny glass seed beads and vintage crystals to my gray felt Kremlin. So far, the beadwork measures 40cm wide x 24cm tall. How do you think it looks so far? Next, I will work on the Kremlin clock tower. Please follow me on Instagram for more updates! Thank you for your interest in my bead embroidery! :)
Happy Spring! There is a new beaded pet portrait available for sale in my Etsy shop. A West Highland White Terrier!
This cute little dog was created by stitching tiny glass seed beads to felt (2-3 beads at a time) using a strong nylon thread. White beaded fringe was layered using Japanese size 15 seed beads. The beaded fringe actually moves to reveal more seed beads beneath! Several different shades of white, gray, black & pink beads were used. This pooch is also wearing a tiny sterling silver heart charm on his collar! Beadwork was sewn to a piece of dark blue Ultrasuede, and mounted in an 8×8″ white shadowbox frame. Piece is signed on the matte and it is ready to hang! If you are interested in a custom beaded pet portrait of a different breed, please view my Etsy shop for more details.
Also, it’s time to celebrate Spring with a 15%-off sale in my Etsy shop! Now through April 5th! All ready-to-ship beaded dog jewelry, bead art, pet portraits, beading kits & patterns will be on sale for a limited time – now through Easter Sunday only. Thanks for looking! :)
